Bitcoin ETFs Turn October Positive With $1 Billion in Three Days While ETH Funds Bleed $1 Billion

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs secured $524.8 million on Wednesday, October 21, marking their third consecutive strong day. This rebound reversed October’s earlier losses and turned monthly flows positive as investors returned to BTC USD. Meanwhile, ETH ETFs moved in the opposite direction, shedding roughly $1 billion during the same period.

Despite the influx of capital, the BTC USD price has not yet mirrored the trend. Bitcoin trades at $81,904, reflecting a 24-hour decline of 1.6% following a report regarding U.S.–Israeli strike plans against Iran that caused oil prices to rise.

This dynamic raises a central question: Is Wall Street choosing Bitcoin over Ethereum?

How Much Have Bitcoin ETFs Taken In This Week, and Who Is Doing the Buying?

Over three sessions, inflows reached approximately $1.07 billion, broken down as $526.6 million on Monday, $23.2 million on Tuesday, and $524.8 million on Wednesday. BlackRock’s IBIT dominated Monday with $665.2 million—its highest single-day total since October 2025. Fidelity’s FBTC attracted $212.7 million on Wednesday, achieving its best day of the month after experiencing $552 million in net outflows through Tuesday.

These movements completely altered the monthly tally. Friday’s figures indicated that Bitcoin funds were down roughly $617 million for October, but they now stand at a net gain of approximately $457 million.

Is Ethereum Falling Behind Bitcoin? ETH ETFs Lose $1 Billion in Three Weeks

Looking at both price performance and fund flows, the answer is yes. Between October 2 and October 21, the Ethereum ETF category suffered outflows across 12 out of 14 trading sessions, losing about $1.01 billion while Bitcoin products pulled in $355 million over that exact timeframe.

The vast majority of this selling pressure concentrates in a single product. BlackRock’s ETHA accounts for nearly all of the sector’s monthly redemptions, losing roughly $954 million. Ether ETFs only managed to break a five-day losing streak on Wednesday with a modest $15 million inflow.

Institutional buyers favoring Ethereum might be bypassing the ETF structure altogether. Unlike direct holding methods, ETHA does not stake its coins, whereas Tom Lee’s Bitmine staked an additional 159,728 ETH this week to capture direct yield.

BTC USD Price Analysis: Can a Billion Dollars of ETF Buying Keep Bitcoin Above $80,400?

So far, the answer is affirmative. BTC trades approximately $1,000 above its 50-day exponential moving average (EMA) of $80,853, sitting just above the $80,410 support swing low.

BTCUSDT Chart 1D TradingView

The primary levels to watch on the daily chart include:

  • First resistance: $82,300–$82,850, close to recent swing highs.
  • Major resistance: $84,100–$84,900, near Wednesday’s high and closing price.
  • First support: $80,394–$80,863, situated near the 50-day EMA and swing low.
  • Major support: $76,179, aligned with the 200-day EMA.

Sustained ETF inflows could enable BTC to break past $84,900 and target $87,220. If trading remains range-bound, prices may oscillate between $80,400 and $84,900 leading up to the Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for October 27–28.

Conversely, climbing oil prices combined with declining ETF demand could drag BTC beneath its 50-day EMA toward the $76,179 mark. While ETF investors have clearly signaled their preferences this month, BTC USD price action must ultimately validate that trajectory.
